I have been wondering a lot about a time-travel or "bubble" type theory that explains this show. It's certainly far more interesting than any aliens theory I've also heard about. Obviously I haven't put much time into considering theories about the show, but I have a couple of thoughts.

1. It's possible the Dharma initiative really is a group of semi-hippies that they appeared in Ben's flashback, and they may have stumbled upon the island accidentally, like flight 815. However, they may have discovered a way to come and go from the island safely (the submarine) and have set up the camp and "stations" as more of an innocent way to "unlock" the secrets of the island, without really knowing the truth at all. It would explain the strange zoo and other experiments that they seem to have been carrying out. It's possible we may find out there was a person named Dharma who discovered the island in the first place and created this organization to study it further.

2. If the Dharma initiative really created the time machine, I would have expected that they would better protect Door #2 than just dumping a couple of guys in this metal capsule underground to push a button every 108 minutes. What is certain is that the station (Pearl? I can't remember) was located on top of some kind of magnetic/radioactive mineral deposit, and was really a device to keep the "radioactivity" to a minimum. This might explain why flight 815 ended up on the island in the first place, due to that time where Desmond didn't push the button in time.

3. The Black Pearl ship bothers me. It is sitting in the middle of the jungle, and if it really was 150 - 200 years old, then it would not have survived essentially intact in that environment. Maybe it has something to do with the "native inhabitants" (others?) on the island that Ben runs into first as a child. At some time in the distant past, people obviously arrived on the island and have never left.

Just a thought, and I do look forward to the next season.

Yes Capper, that would be the one. Not sure about aliens ever entering the storyline – maybe yer getting confused with another show that started out ok with aliens infecting the everglades in Florida after a hurricane. ‘Invasion’ I think. It was cancelled after a season.

LOST was ‘losing’ me for awhile last year, but this year it got good. REEEALLLY good. I’d say it’s now as good or better than the X-Files in it’s heyday. The storylines are pretty wild, but you gotta do that stuff if you hope to survive doing the whole ‘continuing storyline’ thing for several years and keep everyone somewhat interested. My theory is able to at least put a few things together so it doesn’t seem so disjointed. I just hope at the end we get some kind of a fairly clear and understandable explanation that’s actually intelligent and interesting.

It’s one of the few shows worth booking the time to watch (or TiVo). This year’s Stanley Cup playoffs certainly weren’t. Outside of about 13 good minutes, watching playoff hockey this year was a complete waste of time. I’m glad I was working on the computer most of the time while the games were on. Not much ever happened that made my eyes stray away from the monitor…. Holy crap Emery sucked in the final. Brutal.

Priscilla is still a fan of Lost - the show that has completely sucked since mid-way through the first season - I was hooked on it until it started getting so bloody stupid - just way to far fetched to be worth an hour of my time each week - and that's from a guy who loved the X-files - but I'm a sucker for red heads like that lucsious Scully!

Mr. MiltonSearch - you obviously do not watch 24 if you're calling Lost a better show - you are a TV Critic HACK - yer sir - a HACK!

good day sir - I said good day!

Isn’t ‘Lost’ that show that started out with the cool premise that everyone was stranded on an island after a shipwreck, but then ran out of plot lines so suddenly aliens were involved and basically became too unbelievable for me from then on………

Next thing you know they’ll stumble across an actress named Ginger and a Professor that can’t fix the boat or something....

Gotta love that Gilligan.
