    Thanks for the comments Milton Search. I raised the concern at the region today which received comments from other councillors in Oakville and Burlington that have residents experiencing similar problems. Staff will report back with some options on lids that can be used for lighter recyclables while the current blue boxes can be used for heavier items. Check out the attached link for recommendations on preventing materials from being blown away.

      Thanks for addressing this concern at your meeting with the region today and for updating us, Colin.

      Given the weekly complaints on message boards and some of the photos I’ve seen of the recycling day carnage, I think the distribution of some kind of recycling container with a lid would be beneficial.

      UPDATE: We tracked down our garbage bin down the street and around the corner from our house with the lid across the street from there.
