Serious crash in Milton sends three to hospital

Halton Regional Police

Halton Regional Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred in Milton (Nassagaweya) Monday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m. a 2012 Ford was northbound on Second Line Nassagaweya. At the intersection of 15 Side Road the Ford was struck on the passenger side by a westbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado Pick up truck. This collision caused both vehicles to veer into a ditch with the Ford landing on its roof. The pick up came to a rest after striking a tree. Firefighters and EMS worked to free the Ford occupants from the upturned vehicle.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 63-year old man from Moffat, Ontario, was not injured. A 23-year old Guelph woman who was operating the Ford was treated for minor injuries and released from Milton District Hospital. Two passengers in the Ford sustained serious injuries. One 26-year old man from Guelph was taken by EMS to Guelph Hospital but was later transported to Sunnybrook in Toronto with serious injuries. A second man, of undetermined age from Guelph was taken to Milton District Hospital but later airlifted by air ambulance to Hamilton General Hospital. Both men are believed by police to be in serious but stable condition.

Due to the seriousness of the injuries, members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) attended the scene and took carriage of the investigation. The intersection was closed for approximately 6 hours while reconstructionists collected evidence and forensically mapped the scene.

The matter is still under investigation. Investigators have no comment on any possible charges at this time but alcohol has been ruled out as a factor in this crash.

Names of the involved drivers and passengers will not be released by police.

Any witnesses to this collision are requested to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905 825-4747 ext. 5065.
